Landlord a.k.a the bad guy!

My aunt is living in New York for five years already. A few months ago she transfer to a new apartment. All is well until she slipped at the staircase and broke her right foot in the process. She complained from the landlord about the stairs not being sturdy anymore. Her complaints fell from deaf ears and instead of helping her, he accused her of making things up! What kind of guy is that?! The landlord didn’t do anything about the stairs or even at her injury! My poor aunt! :-(
My dad had advised her to hire a lawyer and sue her landlord. When my aunt told us what happened to her, I’ve searched the web for a lawyer and found Rochester personal injury lawyer. They are a group of lawyers that handles all types of Injury and Medical Malpractice cases. I’m pretty sure that my aunt has a strong case against the bad guy her landlord and the lawyers will give her justice that she deserves! :

Gift for myself

I really wanted to buy something special for myself. A special gift for all the hard works and sacrifices. Before, I’m thinking of buying a yorkshire terrier but now, I’m not sure if I still want a dog. It’s kinda expensive and you still have to shell out some money for the maintenance. So, I’m thinking twice already plus we have a 3 year old girl at our house – she might just kick the dog non-stop or worse the dog might bite her! :undecided

Yesterday, after watching the movie, my sisters and I went to the gadgets area of the mall. I saw some laptop and I think (pretty sure) this is what I want for myself. I want a laptop – a Sony Vaio to be exact! That extravagant huh? Well, I’m working hard and very stressed out, a special gift like Sony Vaio Pretty in Pink laptop is what I need! Just thinking of holding it, oh pure joy! <3

Through thick and thin

If I really wanted to make a difference I would..

Stick by a friend in crisis.

Let your friends know that you are “there” for them all the time – bright, sunny days and dark, stormy nights. Your loving support may be the healing balm a friend needs to slip out of the darkness and back into the sunshine. Imagine what a difference you can make just by sticking in there during the tough times. You will almost certainly find that same friend at your side during your soul’s darkest night. :-)
Loyalty is the essence of deep and lasting friendship.

Running like a madman!

Tomorrow I’m going to hit the gym and run like a madman in the treadmill! I’m going to run and run and run! I have to exercise to lose some of my unwanted pounds. I just hope I won’t be too lazy tomorrow. That’s the problem with me, I’m always too lazy to go out. :x
Sometimes I really wish that our house is equipped with exercise gadgets or equipments so I won’t go out anymore. If I have the money, I’ll buy those exercise equipments like steppers, bikes, treadmill, rower, dumbbells, etc.

Hmmm, maybe I could ask my sister for money to buy some exercise gadgets. She also needs it more than I do. Lol! :)) I’m just joking Ate!

How Starbucks Saved My Life

starbs

I am going to read a book called How Starbucks Saved My Life: A Son of Privilege Learns To Live Like Everyone Else The tittle is pretty interesting, right? Wait till you read the plot of the story, I think it gets even better and more interesting…

In his fifties, Michael Gates Gill had it all: a big house in the suburbs, a loving family, and a top job at an ad agency with a six-figure salary. By the time he turned sixty, he had lost everything except his Ivy League education and his sense of entitlement. First, he was downsized at work. Next, an affair ended his twenty-year marriage. Then, he was diagnosed with a slow-growing brain tumor, prognosis undetermined. Around the same time, his girlfriend gave birth to a son. Gill had no money, no health insurance, and no prospects.

One day as Gill sat in a Manhattan Starbucks with his last affordable luxury brooding about his misfortune and quickly dwindling list of options, a 28-year-old Starbucks manager named Crystal Thompson approached him, half joking, to offer him a job. With nothing to lose, he took it, and went from drinking coffee in a Brooks Brothers suit to serving it in a green uniform. For the first time in his life, Gill was a minority–the only older white guy working with a team of young African-Americans. He was forced to acknowledge his ingrained prejudices and admit to himself that, far from being beneath him, his new job was hard. And his younger coworkers, despite having half the education and twice the personal difficulties head ever faced, were running circles around him.

The other baristas treated Gill with respect and kindness despite his differences, and he began to feel a new emotion: gratitude. Crossing over the Starbucks bar was the beginning of a dramatic transformation that cracked his world wide open. When all of his defenses and the armor of entitlement had been stripped away, a humbler, happier and gentler man remained. One that everyone, especially Michael as kids, liked a lot better.

Hhhhmm, very intiguing. I can’t wait to read it! I hope it is really this good.

Times of difficulties

A while ago I’ve wrote about my friend’s dad who had a Mesothelioma. I’m so sad for her especially when she told me about the difficulties that they’re experiencing right now. I asked her about her dad’s condition and their financial status. She’s been crying when she told me that her dad is in the hospital right now and financially, they are struggling so hard! :(( I told her to apply for social security disability and everything will be okay.

We’ve done this before, a few years back when my mom got sick and it help us a lot. It’s a big big help if you have your social security disability. I told her all the procedures and to always stay calm and strong for her dad. Never lose hope, only God knows what will happen. :O

Sad news

I remember a few days ago I heard that Dame Maggie Smith also known as Professor McGonagall from the movie Harry Potter is battling with breast cancer. That is so sad. Earlier I received another sad news from my friend. Her dad is suffering from mesothelioma, a cancer. At first I didn’t know what kind of cancer it is that until she explained it..

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways. Her dad worked in a factory for almost 20 years before retiring. I hope he will be okay. It’s not easy to see someone that you know battles with cancer. I had experinced it. The whole family will be affected and your normal life will never be the same again. :((
I’ve read from Wikipedia that it has also been suggested that washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos can put a person at risk for developing mesothelioma. Unlike lung cancer, there is no association between mesothelioma and smoking, but smoking greatly increases risk of other asbestos-induced cancer. What a scary thing! :??

What a great film!

Yesterday we watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and all I can say is – what a great film! The acting and the effects – you can’t stop saying ooh or ahh and even scream at some part!!! It has a lot of funny moments and at the end part of the movie it will make you cry.

harryginny

Harry, Hermoine and Ron are definitely grown ups. In this film, teenage hormones are running high – Harry is beginning to like/love Ginny and Hermoine is very jealous of Ron and Lavender Brown. She even cry when she saw Ron and Lavender kissing. :(( But in the end she’s very kilig and victorious when Ron in the hospital, called out her name instead of Lavender. And I’m telling you, this is the one of the most funniest scenes. Eksena talaga! :))

lavender-and-ron

There’s also the Quidditch match and it’s Ron’s moment of victory! This Harry Potter movie is not all about Harry. The other characters were also given the chance to shine! Even Luna Lovegood has her moment. :D Draco Malfoy’s acting is also good. He was able to deliver the right emotions and you will also feel (sad and scared) for him. The one thing that I’m disappointed about is that there’s no fighting scenes at the last part of the movie. It’s very different from the book. But from what I’ve heard, there’s no fighting scenes in this movie because they don’t want it to be redundant. The last movie – the 2 installments will have lots of fighting scenes. Oooh I can’t wait to see it!

For all of you out there who haven’t seen the movie yet, oh please go to the nearest cinema and watch. Honestly every penny that you spent for the ticket is sooo worth it! <3

New things

Yesterday, some of the teachers and I went to the faculty and check out the renovations. I’m so happy to see that they bought new things (there are piles of boxes) but I’m not sure if all the office furnitures will be dispose. :|

I am wishing and hoping that there will be new things like filing cabinets, industrial handles, office tables and chairs.. And we need new – as in new and upgraded computers. This will be an additional happiness for us if our working environment / faculty will be fully renovated – new structures with new stuff! :kiss

Packing and moving

Last week our school faculty was finally, finally under renovation. We the teachers, were packing and moving our things around nonstop. Aside from that we are also busy with school loads because examination week is just a stone throw away. Hay, always busy as a bee. :nerdy

Packing and moving our things can be very tiring but I’m so excited with what will be the outcome of our new faculty. Well, it’s about time to be renovated and I hope they will replace all the office furniture with new ones. Oh, the other teachers and I will be very happy if they do that. :roll

Losing unwanted pounds

Lately, I’ve been eating non-stop to fight off stressed and tiredness. The result of eating non-stop is gaining a lot of superb unwanted pounds again! Oh my! Losing weight is what I need and not gaining pounds. :??

I’m always like that, whenever I’m tired or stressed out I eat a lot. Sometimes even when I’m full I still look for food and keep on munching. Hay, I’m a pig! :hihi I need to look for the best fat burner to lose those unwanted pounds. And I need it like – right now! I want to be happy and confident with myself again plus of course, I wanted to be pretty and sexy. :roll
