Heaven’s Very Special Child

I found a great poem about special children. I hope that there would be an awareness about special children so that everybody would treat them right.

So the Baby Announcements say that it’s a girl… congratulations to my cousin! I know that he and his wife have been looking forward to having a baby girl after two boys. I just marvel at my cousin’s love for his wife. Imagine, with everything that transpired, he still managed to order and send out baby birth announcements to all of us. Last Friday, I got so mad at my student that I sent him out of the room.  My student  has mild retardation with learning disability. He’s just in fifth grade but he’s already 16 years old. I sent him out of the room because I got so annoyed with his attitude. He slammed the door on my face in front of other teachers! When I asked what his problem was, he didn’t even talk instead he gave me an angry face. I was superb embarrassed by what he did so I made him leave the room and told him to come back when he’s ready.

One of the regular teacher noticed him sulking outside and tried asking him why he was there but he didn’t answer. She left him alone. After a few minutes, I went out and talk to him about his attitude. I was getting really mad because of what he did and when he didn’t talk, that’s the time I started scolding him and my voice was getting really loud! He knew that I’m sooo mad but still no answer! I started enumerating things that could made him behave like that then suddenly I blurted out if somebody bullied him, that’s the time he’s started nodding his head and became teary eyed. I cannot believed that he was bullied by his classmates because he’s almost 6’1″ tall and his classmates are like midgets compared to him. Also, he’s the lovable type, so who would bully him? He started crying and he’s bending over so I could see his face because I’m only half of his size. I am so ready to fight scold the student who bullied him so I gave him guy names but he was shaking his head, I gave up and started with  girls then he nodded! Uh-oh! What he was bullied by a girl?! I cannot believe it! He told me that he teases the girl and she slapped him in his shoulder,  he got hurt that’s why he became mad. He cannot expressed properly how to react or handle the situation so he just banged the door.

My anger vanished and was replaced by sympathy. That’s the first time that I saw him crying and I didn’t see the tall guy anymore instead I saw a  child who’s asking me to help him deal with his classmate. When he already calmed down, I talked to him about his attitude. I told him that next time he should tell me that he’s mad instead of banging the door or throwing things that he’s holding. He promised to do that. When were done talking, he looked so helpless again and he wanted me to go with him in his room. I accompanied him and talked to his classmate. When everything’s settled I left him and saw that he’s happy again.

I got sad by what happened. He’s 6 feet tall and he cannot even protect himself from people half of his size. Sometimes I got sooo tired of dealing with SPED students but when I think about what happened – him and his helplessness.. Who would protect them aside from their family? That’s really a sad thing..

My sister and I were talking just the other day about going back to the gym. Excess weight is making us nervous about the upcoming Halloween celebrations. Do you know why? Yesterday, I’m not feeling well but I still go to school. After an hour I couldn’t help it, the pain’s unbearable so I went home. I have a severe stomach ache that for a minute I’m twitching in pain, another minute I couldn’t move at all. :?? Hay! I hate it so much when my tummy’s aching.
Now, I’m feeling slightly better and I just Googled stomach ache remedies in case I experience one again.. I learned that when you have a stomach ache, eat a mustard or have a teaspoon of vinegar and after a few minutes, the tummy ache is gone. I know it’s kinda eewww but it’s better to endure a minute of yuckiness than double over in pain. :undecided I will try the vinegar if my tummy aches again. I hope this is really a stomach ache remedy!

Woohoot, today is the start of “ber” months – September, October, November, and December! Whoa! I can’t believe how time flies. Four months to go and it’s Christmas time.
Hay, I just realize that I need to save money for Christmas gifts. I know, they’ll always say it’s the thought that counts but is it really? I don’t think so.. It’s not just the thought that counts but the value of the gifts that you gave. Sad, but that’s true. People nowadays are very choosy. Well, lucky for me because I just gave gifts for family and close friends and they’re the people who are appreciative!

I’m getting excited just thinking about Christmas. If you are a Filipino, you know how we celebrate Christmas and New Year, we really prepare for it and everything’s so much fun! Advance Merry Christmas to everyone!
